COVID has been found in various wildlife for years. One reason this matters is that COVID can evolve separating in other animals then suddenly jump back into humans, leading to sudden changes in infectiousness and/or mortality. Omicron was an example of this.

During the past decade, an epidemic of severe, antifungal-resistant tinea has emerged in South Asia. Now for the first time some cases have been found in the United States. Two patients in New York City identified by the same dermatologist. No connection between them or recent travel history, which suggests substantial community spread.
